Welcome to Scientex
Scientex Berhad ("Scientex") was incorporated in Malaysia under the Companies Act, 1965 as Scientific Textiles Industries Sdn. Bhd. to manufacture and market polyvinylchloride (PVC) leather cloth and sheetings. Scientex was converted to a public company in 1969.
In 1990, Scientex was listed on the Main Market of the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange (now known as Bursa Malaysia Securities Berhad). Scientex has a market capitalisation of more than MYR230 million and a total combined assets of approximately MYR600 million. For the financial year ended 2011, Scientex achieved a revenue exceeding MYR800 million.
Scientex's core businesses are manufacturing and property development.
Its manufacturing division comprises of two business units namely packaging and polymer.
The packaging business unit produces various packaging products designed for outer, middle and inner packaging applications:-
- Outer packaging – stretch film, stretch hood, PP strapping band and HDPE tying tape.
- Middle packaging – woven bags, bulk bags (FIBC) and corrugated carton boxes.
- Inner packaging – adhesives, lamination film and PVC rigid film.
Today, Scientex is one of the world’s largest producers of stretch film, with an annual production capacity in excess of 10 billion metres.
The polymer business unit specialises in the manufacture of PVC leather cloth, PVC/PP & PVC/PE foam and TPO/PP foam sheets for automotive instrument panels, door trims, and headlining for car manufacturers in the Asia Pacific region. In addition, Scientex also supplies tufted carpet mats to automotive manufacturers in the Asia Pacific region.
Its property development division is made up of its flagship development in Pasir Gudang, Johor and a new up-and-coming development in Kulai, Johor. The former, known as Scientex Pasir Gudang, covers more than 1,100 acres of residential, commercial, and industrial development where over 5,000 units of residential and commercial properties have been built since 1995.
Scientex Kulai, the second property development project, comprises of 250 acres of residential and commercial development, was launched in early 2008 in line with Scientex's strategy to acquire and develop strategically located prime land within the Iskandar Malaysia growth corridor in Johor. |
