Scientex Industries Bhd acquired Scientex Containers Sdn Bhd (then known as Seremban Fibre Containers Bhd), manufacturer of corrugated carton boxes to complement its PVC leather cloth and sheeting, and woven bags business operations. |

Scientex Industries Bhd ventured into the manufacture of stretch film by setting up Scientex Packaging Film Sdn Bhd. Its first stretch film manufacturing plant with two production lines was set up at the Group’s Shah Alam factory.
It consolidated its polymer operations under a new subsidiary, Scientex Polymer Sdn Bhd while its woven bag operations under Woventex Sdn Bhd, was consolidated under Woventex Corporation Bhd (Woventex).
Scientex Industries Bhd changed its name to Scientex Incorporated Bhd to better reflect the Group’s diversified activities.

Woventex was successfully listed on the Second Board of the Bursa Malaysia Securities Berhad and became an associate company of Scientex Incorporated Berhad.

Through a new subsidiary, Pan Pacific Straptex Sdn Bhd, a joint-venture with Tsukasa Chemical Industry Co. Ltd of Japan, Woventex ventured into the manufacture of PP strapping bands.
The Johor Menteri Besar officiated the ground-breaking ceremony
of its 5-storey low cost flats which forms part of the
development of Taman Scientex.

Scientex Packaging Film Sdn Bhd commissioned its second stretch
film line at its Shah Alam factory while embarking on the
construction of a new stretch film manufacturing facility in
Pulau Indah, Port Klang.

Scientex entered into a new joint venture agreement with Sumitomo Bakelite Co.
Ltd and Mitsu & Co. Ltd to develop functional processed PVC
rigid film. |
2001 |
Scientex Packaging Film Sdn Bhd set up its second stretch film plant with 2 more stretch film production lines were set up at Pulau Indah,
raising its annual output capacity from 16,000 MT per
annum to 40,000 MT per annum.

Scientex formed a joint venture company known as Cosmo Scientex
(M) Sdn Bhd with Mitsui Takeda Chemicals, Inc. of Japan (now
known as Mitsui Chemicals Polyurethanes, Inc.) to set up the
first urethane prepolymer adhesive plant in ASEAN to manufacture
adhesive materials for flexible food packaging. |
2003 |
Scientex Polymer Sdn Bhd expanded its operations to the
manufacture of tufted carpet mats for the automotive industry
through a rationalization exercise with its Japanese partners
whereby Scientex Polymer Sdn Bhd acquired the entire carpet mat
business operations in Japan, Vietnam and Malaysia. |
2004 |
Scientex embarked on a rationalization exercise whereby Woventex
Corporation Bhd acquired the stretch film and other industrial
packaging units from the former and changed its name to Scientex
Packaging Berhad (SciPack) to better reflect its core business of industrial packaging.
SciPack added two more cast film extrusion lines to increase its
annual output capacity from 40,000 MT to 60,000 MT. |
2005 |
SciPack established its first overseas manufacturing plant in
Vietnam to manufacture woven bags and FIBC bulk bags.
SciPack expanded its stretch film operations in Pulau Indah by
building a new factory alongside its existing plant by
acquiring three new extrusion stretch film machinery with total
investment cost of RM50 million. Production capacity for stretch
film increased from 60,000 MT per annum to 90,000 MT per annum.
Scientex achieved a landmark revenue of more than RM500 million.
Scientex Quatari Sdn Bhd expanded its landbank by acquiring 95 acres of freehold land next to Taman Scientex.
A foreign subsidiary, now known now as PT Scientex Indonesia, was
established for the sales and marketing of laminating
polyurethane adhesives. |
2007 |
Scientex implemented a share split exercise of one Scientex
share of RM1.00 each into two Scientex new ordinary shares of
RM0.50 each and a bonus issue of up to 70 million shares on the
basis of one new ordinary share for every two ordinary shares
held after the share split exercise.
Scientex Quatari Sdn Bhd further expanded its land bank by
acquiring 250 acres of prime land in Kulai, Johor, which is
located within the Iskandar Malaysia region. The launch of the 1st
phase of mixed development was held in April 2008. |
2008 |
Scientex Incorporated Bhd made a voluntary general offer to
SciPack shareholders to acquire all the SciPack shares not already held
by Scientex. The general offer was completed in May 2008,
resulting in SciPack becoming a wholly-owned subsidiary of
Scientex. SciPack was delisted from the Official
List of Bursa Malaysia Securities Berhad on 28 April 2008.
Scientex Incorporated Bhd changed its name to Scientex
Berhad in March 2008 in line with the Scientex Group’s new
corporate identity and launched its new corporate logo with its
“healthy, friendly & happy” tagline as part of its branding
exercise.
Scientex Foundation, a charitable trust was set up to fund and
support corporate responsibility activities relating to
health and healthcare related services and community projects which aim to protect
and preserve the nature and environment.
Scientex entered into a joint venture arrangement with Tsukasa
Chemical Industry Co. Ltd to manufacture HDPE raffia tape at its
plant in Vietnam.

2009 |
ScientexQuatari Sdn Bhd acquired 52.83% of the entire paid-up capital of Scientex Heights Sdn Bhd (formerly known as Rising Heights Development Sdn Bhd) for a cash consideration of RM9.25 million. Rising Heights Development Sdn Bhd is a property development company with its prime project being the development of 186 acres of residential and commercial development known as Taman Muzaffar Heights in Ayer Keroh, Melaka.
Scientex Quatari Sdn Bhd acquired 100% equity interest in Scientex (Skudai) Sdn Bhd (formerly known as Johline Realty Sdn Bhd), a property development company which owns 2 pieces of vacant land in Skudai, Johor totaling 156 acres for a cash consideration of RM65.3 million.
