Scientex Eyes Higher Overseas Revenue PETALING JAYA, March 29 (Bernama) -- Scientex Inc Bhd aims to increase its revenue contributions from overseas sales, especially from motor vehicle business, next year riding on the anticipated growth in the regional car sales. "More new models are expected to be launched by year-end or early next year so we are bullish that our overseas revenue from the motor vehicle segment will grow to 75 percent next year from the current 60 percent," its managing director P.J. Lim said. The company is the only producer in South-East Asia of thermoplastic olefins/polypropylene foam sheet supplying to the automotive interior market. Among its clients are Toyota, Nissan, Ford, General Motors, Daihatsu, Mazda and Kia. Speaking to reporters after the group's extraordinary general meeting here today, Lim said the group was in the process of merging its units, comprising the manufacturing of skin materials for automotive interior, automotive parts and carpet mats. "The merger will enable us to capture the expected growth in the regional auto industry. It will also offer us greater operational and cost efficiency," he said. He said the merger was expected to be completed by end-March. Lim said the group's property division would also continue to be a major contributor to the group's revenue going forward. "At the moment, it contributed more than 20 percent to the group's revenue for the financial year ended July 31, 2006," he said. For the year ended July 31, 2006, the group posted a higher revenue of RM586.3 million against RM507.6 million in the same period previously. |
