Scientex eyes higher overseas sales revenue

SCIENTEX Inc Bhd aims to increase its revenue contributions from overseas sales next year, especially from its motor vehicle business.

"Carmakers are expected to launch more models by the year-end or early next year so we are bullish that our overseas revenue from the motor vehicle segment will grow to 75 per cent next year from the current 60 per cent," its managing director P.J. Lim said.

The firm is the only maker of thermoplastic olefins/ polypropylene foam sheets in South-East Asia, which it supplies to carmakers for interior use in vehicles.

Among its clients are Toyota, Nissan, Ford, General Motors, Daihatsu, Mazda and Kia.

Speaking to reporters after the company's extraordinary general meeting in Petaling Jaya yesterday, Lim said the group is in the process of merging its units, comprising the manufacturing of skin materials for automotive interior, automotive parts and carpet mats.

"The merger will enable us to capture the expected growth in the regional auto industry. It will also offer us greater operational and cost efficiency," he said.

Lim said the group's property division will also continue to be a major contributor to the group's revenue. - Bernama
