A Passion For Packaging And
Building Affordable Homes
Since 1997 when we commissioned our first stretch film line, Scientex has grown in stature and indeed has transformed to become one of the world’s top producers of stretch film. With continuous efforts, we have also successfully developed the 4.5 micron film, the world’s thinnest stretch film produced directly from a cast machine in a single process. Scientex continues to harbour greater ambitions as we plan for a sustainable future in terms of market driven innovative eco-friendly products and increasing productivity and efficiency through, amongst others, adoption of automation in line with Industry 4.0 practices.
The Group’s Fundamental Strategies namely to ‘Invest in Growth’ and ‘Grow Economic Engine’ has provided a solid foundation for defining our business processes and value creation activities that drives our progress, while our third strategy to ‘Inspire Our People’ ensures that we nurture and retain our most valued human capital.
For our Packaging Division, the strings of acquisitions from Great Wall Plastic Industries in 2013 to Daibochi Berhad and Mega Printing and Packaging Sdn Bhd in 2018 and 2019 respectively were prime examples of our aspiration to invest in growth and grow not just our capacity and scale, but also in terms of our diversity of know-how, experience and expertise. By leveraging on the Group’s combined strengths and expertise, the Group now offers an integrated packaging product stretch across the packaging value chain, from plain film, base film and printed film to bags and multi-layered flexible plastic packaging. We are committed to provide innovative flexible plastic packaging solutions which addresses a myriad of customer needs in terms of protection, convenience, hygiene and safety and lastly food waste reduction.

Our diversified expertise and capabilities have further attracted local and multinational customers and brand owners in the innovation and development of new and sustainable packaging products. With our diversified, inventive and sustainable manufacturing expertise, Scientex is poised to further tap into the growing global demand for such flexible plastic packaging products driven by rapid population growth, lifestyle changes, increasing urbanisation and heightened awareness and emphasis on hygiene and safety.
1997 was also the year when our Property Division officially launched the very first property development project at Pasir Gudang, Johor. With our purpose of providing quality affordable homes to the Malaysian communities, our core focus on affordable housing and emphasis on its growth has fueled aggressive land-banking and development activities in recent years.
To achieve our growing aspirations, we have adopted a simple yet effective “cross boundary” strategy as we looked beyond our existing markets and expanded our geographical footprint from our traditional bases in Johor and Melaka to the central states of Perak, Selangor, Negeri Sembilan and Penang as we seek to develop more affordable housing in previously uncharted territories. As at FY2020, we have completed a total of 21,531 units of affordable homes, well on target to achieve our aim to complete 50,000 units of affordable home by 2028. We remain confident that the demand for such affordable housing which is supported by various governmental agencies and authorities and policy initiatives such as accommodative interest rate regime will continue to spur and drive the growth in this segment.
Vision
Backed by a strong financial position and leveraging upon our status as a global flexible plastic packaging player and reputable Malaysian developer of affordable homes, Scientex is well prepared to usher in another era of robust growth led by our Vision – ‘To Grow the Scientex Community for a Better Tomorrow’ and ’To Double Up Every Five Years’.
